Jonathan Rea Nurburgring 2010 tenkateracing.com

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider Jonathan Rea enjoyed a successful afternoon in round 11 of the World Superbikes championship at the Nürburgring with two podium finishes.

The Northern Irishman kept a cool head during a turbulent race one that was restarted when Leon Haslam and Troy Corser fell and in which only 13 of the initial 20 riders crossed the finish line.

Among the highest profile of the fallers were James Toseland and Noriyuki Haga, but amid the excitement, Rea led from start to finish and took the chequered flag by just over a second from Spain's Carlos Checa, with Britain's Cal Crutchlow 10 seconds back in third.

Haga picked himself up after the disappointment of race one by winning race two, with Rea continuing his solid recent form by earning a second place, five seconds ahead of Haslam.

It was the third round in succession that Rea has made the podium twice, following similar efforts in Brno and Silverstone and he was more than pleased with the results on Sunday.

"Nori [Haga] rode an unbelievable race," Rea said. "It's quite frustrating when you see someone just ride away from you like that by a 10th here and there, but it was a great job from my team this weekend with 45 points overall, so I'm really happy."

"The last six races have been consistent, but it's frustrating when I look at my mid-season form, so it's something I'll have to learn from next year. I'm 24 next year so with one more year's experience I'll be there."
