Martin Barr Pro Nationals Wakes Colne 2010 Ian Roxburgh

The final weekend of the Red Bull Pro Nationals and Elite Youth Cup in Wakes Colne, Essex, proved to be a fitting climax to an incredible season, with Martin Barr (pictured above) taking the MX2 title.

What a monumental year it’s been for the Red Bull Pro Nationals, Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup championships. Last year was great but 2010 has been special. It’s the first year that all three championships have been run simultaneously over the same weekends and what a difference to British motocross they’ve really made. The colour, the vibrancy, the atmosphere – everything about them had such a buzz and nothing more so than the incredible racing in all classes throughout the year.

From the jaw dropping speed and talents of the little ‘uns in the 65cc Red Bull Elite Youth Class, right through to the hard charging, aggressive racing of the pro racers, this series had it all and once again that was shown at the final round at the beautiful Little Loveney Hall circuit.

Another healthy crowd showed up for the season finale and they weren’t disappointed with a track prepared better than it’s ever been and some great racing. The Suzuki Motocross Experience was buzzing all day and the kids action zone was a hive of activity as the Zorb balls bumped about like pool balls all day and kids bounced up and down on the bungee trampolines like hopping frogs but it was the racing that really laid on the entertainment, especially after the wind put paid to the FMX show.

Yet again there were some rip roaring battles in all the classes across the two days of riding, even more so with the championships on the line. For the challengers to the series leaders it really was all or nothing if they were going to get the job done and man didn’t it show. The champions in all classes certainly earned the right after this weekend and especially a long, hard fought season.

Now it’s onto 2011 for the MC Federation and Events 22 team as work starts for next year’s Red Bull Pro Nationals, Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British championship and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup to just keep making them bigger and better. It’s been a great year with great support from all the riders, series partners, media...just about everyone and long may it continue because no doubt about it, this series is taking British motocross to whole new level.
