Alice Moxom is no stranger to the booths, boxes and shacks of London, LA and NY clubs. Her ability to blend a mix of Detroit tinged, juked up soulful dubs is what got her noticed by SWAMP 81 owner Loefah. Impressed by Moxie’s forward thinking selection he asked her to be the first female to play at dubstep Mecca DMZ in September 2010, and more recently at the sixth birthday in March. “I’m extremely proud and I never thought I would be THAT lady and it’s a title that will always stay with me. It came about when I did a mix for Kiss 100 last summer and was chatting to Loefah about getting some tunes from SWAMP [81].” As well as being the only sister to DJ at DMZ Moxie also organises and spins at twisted soul night Deviation with Benji B. She has played at Glastonbury and Secret Garden Party with her art music collective ATG (Ahead'a The Game) and now has a fortnightly slot on NTS Radio.

Moxie’s obsession with vinyl and beat matching began during her teens when she did a DJ workshop at her school in north London. Alice began mixing garage, hip hop and then dubstep with a clear objective: soul music. “I love soul music whether it’s techno, hip hop or disco. It’s all a certain sound that connects it. I love Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott, B.B. King, Roy Ayers and Erykah Badu as well as earlier 90s stuff by Gabrielle.” Moxie’s Mix Monday is an ode to the soulful groove pon the dancefloor and her premier forward thinking tune selection.
