Manchester’s Warehouse Project have announced that the fabulous M.I.A. is to perform at a very special event on Saturday, November 13 at the iconic underground warehouse venue.
Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, the award-winning Warehouse Project has become one of the UK’s leading dance events and this is just one of a host of nights that will see dance music legends perform under Manchester's Piccadilly Station.
The Warehouse Project has been one of the forerunners in the underground dance music scene over the last five years, creating a niche market in the North of England with some of the biggest acts clambering to play at the venue.
The organisers have signalled their intent to create their biggest and best line up yet with the WHP10 events, with names such as Richie Hawtin, Delphic, Doves, Kelis, David Guetta, Doom and Ian Brown among the artists playing.
Joining M.I.A. on the bill for the November 13 gig will be BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac, who will be co-hosting the night as part of the annual Annie Mac Presents Tour. Dubstep pioneer Rusko will also be dropping one of his trademark heavy sets, fresh from working with M.I.A. on her new album.
There are still some very special live guests to be added to the line-up who will be revealed in the coming weeks.
M.I.A. will take to The Warehouse Project stage in one of the most intimate settings that the controversial singer will play in 2010. Recently headlining The Big Chill Festival in Herefordshire, the star is back making waves in her country of birth with recent album /\/\ /\ Y /\ following a year long hiatus from live performing.
M.I.A. enjoyed success last year on the back of her monster hit, Paper Planes, which featured in the Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire movie.
The New York-based artist, who was born in the UK from Sri Lankan heritage, was recently named amongst Time Magazine's 2009 Top 100 World's Most Influential People and she won Rolling Stone Magazine’s album of the year in 2007.
The event is sure to be one of the most exciting and eagerly anticipated nights of the entire 2010 series, with M.I.A. performing her unique live show on stage, joined by some incredible supports.
