This month Liverpudlian Krissy Peers a.k.a Melé takes to the ones and twos to put together a mix of heavy weight electro featuring tracks by Instra: Mental, house classics by Livin Joy, Robin S and some of his own dubplates.
The 20 year old first came to our attention earlier this year when he smashed it with a 90 minute set after Diplo at the Deadly People and RBMA Presents party at KOKO, Camden Town. His ability to blend some of the best old school rave and drum and bass tunes into progressive techno and house give him the edge that caught the ear of mentor and electronic trailblazer Sinden.
Krissy’s production skills are as versatile as his DJ sets, with tunes like Starlight Express (Mixpak) that have all the hall marks of a pounding techno bad boy to the sizzurp snare of Lego (Mixpak). In June 2011 Melé jumped in the Red Bull Studios with Toddla T as part of Red Bull Mixtape collaborating on an 808 inspired joint. As well as working in the lab with Toddla, Krissy has also remixed for ice cream tattooed rapper Gucci Mane, Mumdance, Greenmoney and Contakt.
With everyone from Rustie to Diplo hitting him up for riddims and with releases on Sound Of Sumo, Mixpak Records and Sinden’s Grizzly, Melé is fast becoming a production powerhouse.
