A snowboarder since the age of nine, Ben’s route to the top includes honours such as winning the British Junior Halfpipe Championships six years running and being awarded a Gold Olympic Passport in 2005.

As the 2010 Winter Olympic Games rapidly approach, all his training is now geared towards qualification. Banchory, Aberdeenshire is where he calls home. Oh, and his friends call him ‘Kildog’…

Who is Ben Kilner?
A guy who is living his dream

Outside of the halfpipe, how do you express your creativity?
Playing the piano. I play by ear and if a tune gets into my head I have to learn it on the piano until I’ve cracked it.

What’s been your most emotional moment?
During a fund raising event I was raised on the shoulders of my friends and family while the band played Loch Lomond. It was a proud moment.

What’s your biggest goal?
To win a medal at the Winter Olympic Games.

What’s your life philosophy?
The more you sweat in practice, the less you bleed in battle.
