At 16 he left school and headed for a season in the United States at the backcountry Mecca of Whistler. This, Scott says, was a formative experience. "You're constantly pushed to learn stuff. Whistler for me was the starting point for it all really because the standard of riding over there is just so high.”

A few seasons down the line and Scott is regarded as one of the UK’s best, a slick rider with balls of steel who’s as happy in the park as he is blasting through backcountry. So, here's what you need to know about Scot...

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to aspiring snowboarding champs?
Have fun with it. If you’re lucky and do well, the opportunities will arise. Stay focused.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?
Back to the sixties, for sure. The spirit of revolution and free love – sounds pretty good to me!

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
A VW R32 car, not that I can afford one. Less materialistically, probably living by a beach.

Do you have a life philosophy?
Live it to the full and be yourself. Try to have no regrets.

What does the next year hold for you?
Hopefully going a full year injury-free, doing lots of film and mag shoots, inventing new tricks and generally stoking my love for the sport.
