Red Bull Music Academy and Major Lazer have announced another enormous line up for their annual Notting Hill Carnival Party!
More details will be announced soon. Keep checking redbull.co.uk/carnival for updates and details on how to apply for the Guest List.
For the third year in a row, Red Bull Music Academy will be putting on the hottest show of Notting Hill Carnival. Major Lazer, Douster, Poirier, Sticky, Joker, David Rodigan and Drop The Lime will host the annual Red Bull Carnival Party, offering the hottest ticket of the Notting Hill Carnival Bank Holiday Weekend.
Over the last three years, the event has rocketed to near legendary status as the destination to head to for the best party in town.
Incredible talent, a near mythical struggle to secure a ticket, as well as surprise guest appearances (in 2008, Santigold popped in for an astounding set) have resulted in this event being one of the greatest the Westway has ever seen.
Following on from 2009’s event, we herald the return of Major Lazer Sound System. Diplo and Switch will be introducing hand picked talent from around the world, with an incredible, rarely seen special guest being unveiled in the run up to the day. All this and more will be recorded for Red Bull Music Academy Radio.
The newly announced line up for the 2010 event is:
•Major Lazer (Diplo and Switch)
•Douster
•Poirier
•Sticky
•Joker
•David Rodigan
•Drop The Lime
Major Lazer is made up of DJs Diplo and Switch, a cartoon alias created by the duo for their unique take and ideas on dancehall sounds. Joined by an all-star cast of Jamaican vocalists, the pair have created an experimental and infectious set that will propel you through Carnival.
Douster, who was born in France but has classed Buenos Aires as his home for the past two years, combines his background in electro, house, bass, dancehall and hip hop with his current time and place in the world to produce something completely new and fresh - this boy needs to be heard to be believed!
Another newcomer to step into the Carnival ring is Poirier, one of the Red Bull Music Academy Graduates. The Montreal-based producer effortlessly combines styles to create a completely unique sound. Past hook-ups include the likes of Crookers and Toddla T – Bank Holiday will, however, see him join forces with Face T to create the ultimate Carnival mash-up.
Sticky will be on hand to keep everyone on a garage/funky vibe and Joker will be raising the crowd with his instantly recognizable drops.
At 15, David Rodigan started DJing at school dances and youth clubs and at 58 he doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Whether it’s collecting soundboy scalps on the clash circuit, juggling dubplates other selectors would sell their grandmas for, or spellbinding entire generations of dancehall revellers worldwide with his legendary sets and speeches, the 'Gentleman Rudeboy' is a true reggae rocker for life.
Last, but by no means least, we make way for Drop The Lime, something a little different to set another pace for the day. To quote a source: “chopped-up breaks making hairpin turns, breakdowns coming out of nowhere, a foundation of wobbling goblin bass often cut in with tropical, clacking snares". Should be a set to remember...
The Red Bull Music Carnival Party is the most in demand party of the Carnival, only for those who want a line-up that you will not see on any festival bill, incredible carnival vibes and an event that will go down in the annals of the Westway’s history once again.
