If staying in is the new going out then Red Bull’s inaugural Bedroom Jam on Monday September 15 has surely set the bar when it comes to domestic hedonism.
In hindsight, sticking a load of bands in the penthouse suite of a posh Soho hotel and asking them to play a set each to a bunch of lucky fans was always going to be a raucous affair. From naked hot tub action to champagne stains on the walls and, we kid you not, several visits from London’s noise police, this launch event was everything you’d expect from a rock ‘n’ roll party.
The men with the sound meters eventually shut it down, but not before we’d heard blistering sets from the likes of Attack! Attack!, Saving Aimee and Young Guns. Sadly, The Blackout got one song in and the plug was pulled, but you can catch all the action, plus a performance by Suffolk post-hardcore outfit, Depth, at www.redbullbedroomjam.com
