For its opening night on Tuesday, Red Bull Sound Space invited Coldplay to play some tracks from their freshly minted album Mylo Xyloto. Here are a few photos from that laid-back evening in California...
Just a few months after Coldplay quite literally lit up Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage, Chris Martin and the rest of the band played tracks from their brand new album to a lucky select few. It was certainly more intimate than their headline appearance at Worthy Farm back in June.

Red Bull Sound Space in California is a brand new performance space designed to host a series of intimate live rock shows from premier music acts.

The performance space at KROQ in Culver City, California, allows for both radio broadcasts and live webcasts, meaning fans from around the world get a front-row seat.

On Tuesday night, one of the world's biggest bands, Coldplay, brought their epic, widescreen sound to the newly functional basement at KROQ.

The band played songs such as Yellow, Paradise, Viva La Vida, Charlie Brown, Fix You and Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.

Despite the early hour, lead singer Chris Martin met KROQ hosts Kevin and Bean‘s quips with a cheeky, self-deprecating humour, answering questions about their age and the longevity of their songs.
