On Saturday, June 26, the best British manual skaters descended upon London to battle it out at the qualifiers and final of Red Bull Manny Mania 2010.
With a trip out to New York to compete in the Red Bull Manny Mania Global Final up for grabs, the standard went into the stratosphere.
A dozen skaters had already qualified from various heats around the UK and a few more spaces were decided in the London Qualifier at the start of the day’s session.
Some familiar faces were on show including last year’s winner Paddy McGuire and Will Greenfield, a hardened manual trick specialist.
After some incredible skating the following made it through to the Grand Final:
1) Paddy McGuire
2) Will Greenfield
3) Cameron Snow
4) Tim Prozorov
5) Manuel Lopez
6) Jake Malt
They joined the likes of Joe Moore, Ben Rowles, Lloyd McLeggon, Jack Edwards, Ashley Dixon and John Bell in the Grand Final. The warmth from one of the hottest days of the year seemed to spur the skaters on as they landed a ridiculous amount of tricks.
The top four places in Red Bull Manny Mania 2010 ended up going to the following (in order):
Winner – Jack Edwards
Second place – Joe Moore
Third place – Tim Prozorov
Fourth place – Paddy McGuire
Jack Edwards pulled it out of the bag using a huge selection of tricks, a massive amount of style and the high pace in and out of Manny.
He will now face 32 skaters, all from different countries, in the Red Bull Manny Mania World Final for amateurs in New York City on August 21, 2010.
The one amateur skater who defeats every other in the global field will get their chance to step into the big league – a spot in the invite-only Red Bull Manny Mania Pro Event, on Sunday, August 22.
