The late May Bank Holiday weekend saw some of the world’s best bboys travel to Otterspool Park in Liverpool to compete in Tear it Up as part of the HUB Festival.
The promising Friday sunshine developed into incessant rain overnight, so the first day’s competition had to be relocated at short notice to Baa Bar in Liverpool city centre.
Ryan from Trinity Warriors, Derby won the solo battle against Sheffield’s Diggadaddy from Steel City Rockers.
The prize for the battle was an opportunity to travel to Paris to see the world premiere of Turn it Loose and an opportunity to take part in workshops hosted by the stars of the film and BC One competitors including Lilou, Roxrite, Ronnie and Hong 10.
Fortunately, gusty winds blew the rain clouds away, allowing the competition to return to its original location on Sunday.
The contest was fierce in the international crew battles, with Trinity Warriors progressing to the final to take their place alongside returning champions and eventual winners Hustle Kidz from Holland, who were led by world solo bboy champion Menmo and who also boasted Xisco and 10-year-old bboy Justen.
The international solo competition's 16 contestants were eventually whittled down to just two and Holland’s Jeroonski beat crew mate Redo to take the title.
