Look, I realise there aren’t exactly a lot of new games around at the moment, but two Zumba Fitness titles in the UK top 10? Has it really come to this?
And before any hardcore gamers wade in agreeing that the worst thing that ever happened to video games was when they started letting normal people join in, let me be clear: I think one of the best things about gaming is that a "gamer" is now just as likely to be someone's smelly, social-inept old gran as someone's smelly, socially-inept young son.
But Zumba Fitness? Come on, you're better than that. It's okay, I understand. It's January. You're a stone heavier than the last time you realised you were a stone heavier, and waddled into the new dawn of a new year like you always do, clinging hopefully to another resolution that this will be the year – an Olympic year no less – for the mind-and-body beautiful.
And I applaud you in that ambition, and for your decision to use a video game to achieve it – because they really, honestly work, helping to motivate, monitor and - above all - make exercise fun.
Or they can be cynical rubbish like Zumba Fitness. So if you're serious about getting into shape, here's our guide to the best – and worst – in the virtual gym.
Just Dance 3 (Wii, 360, PS3)
The ultimate distraction-workout for fun-seekers – you'll be having such a laugh you won't realise how hard you've worked until you slip over in a pool of your own sweat.
Dance Central 2 (360)
A more 'serious dancing game' than Just Dance, this one's for gamers who want to be active, but can't face buying a proper fitness game.
Wii Fit Plus (Wii)
In tandem with the brilliant Balance Board, this is still the benchmark active gaming experience for those looking to take baby steps towards a healthier lifestyle with a grin on their face.
Michael Jackson Experience (Wii, PS3, 360)
Effectively Just Dance: Wacko Jacko edition, it's also every bit as stupidly enjoyable and intense if his tunes turn you on.
EA Sports Active 2 (Wii, PS3)
The most comprehensive fitness game ever made. It was way too expensive when it came out, thanks to all the gadgets in the box, but if you can pick it up cheap now you're on to a winner.
Your Shape 2012 (360)
If you're looking for an intense workout, this is not for you – but if yoga is your 'thing', this is one of the most impressive uses of Kinect yet.
But whatever you do, don't bother with these…
Get Fit With Mel B (Wii, PS3, 360)
To be the most annoying person in a band that also features Geri Halliwell is achievement enough. To be the most annoying person in a fitness game is a mark of true talent.
EA Sports Active 2 (360)
Hang on, wasn't I just raving about this? Yes, but the version for Kinect is horribly broken. Don't go there!
Zumba Fitness (Wii, 360, PS3)
It should be fairly clear by now that Mr Zumba and I will no longer be exercising together.
