Last Thursday Red Bull Studios London cleared out the live room to make space for the first episode of SoulCultureTV’s Prose N Percussion series. The seven-minute clip features Kano, Sway, Scorcher and Asher D freestyling 32 bars to camera, accompanied by award winning drummer Paul Stanley Mckenzie (The PSM).
All of the MC’s performing in the above clip star in the gritty four-part drama Top Boy premiering this week on Channel 4. Written by Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies, Lucky Break, The Hamburg Cell, Love Lies Bleeding and more) and directed by Yann Demange (The Child & Dead Set), Top Boy details the story of young people embroiled in urban drug and gang culture on an inner city London council estate. You can catch up with episodes one and two here and watch the penultimate show tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.
