We catch up with Kye Forte on his year so far. You can read his interview here and see the latest pictures of him in action.

How's 2009 treating you so far, any news to report?

Yeah 2009 has been real fun so far, started off with a snowboarding trip to Morzine during New Year which was sweet! Then went on a riding/filming trip to France & Spain. Then went to South Africa with Oakley to shoot ads, which was amazing, probably one of the coolest places I have ever visited. On top of that been trying to get out & race the moto x bike as much as possible & dig the trails for the summer. Busy!

You just got back from a Movment vs Bicycle Union road trip round the south of France, how was that?

The trip was really fun, we did however endue some horrific weather. This meant a lot of driving trying to avoid the rain, actually all the way into Spain. Just as things were looking up the van broke down, we ended up stranded for a couple of days in Girona without a van. Then I found out one of our cats had died at home, which really finished it all off for me. Eventually though we got the van back, spirits were restored & we managed to get enough footage for a decent web video. Luckily the crew was tight on this trip I think that’s what held it all together.

Who was the most solid rider of the trip and who kept everyone going throughout?

That's a hard question, I think everyone was really keen as we had spent so much time coped up in the van any time we stopped we were keen to ride.

With the opening of the new Decoy Skate park taking place late 08, how has it been received by the NA locals? and have you sessioned it much?

Yeah the park is amazing, I think all the locals have got used to it now. It’s still strange that we have an out door bowl now? Been trying to ride it as much as possible the busy periods are starting to dye down a little now, so been getting a bit more of a ride lately.

You were hugely involved in the design process of the park, what key features did you want to see in there and why, have they been working out?

The main aim was to have a real fast set up, where you can carve fast & hard. It’s definitely how we planned watching Leo buzz round there at 100 mph is nut's. Everyone wanted a spine, so that’s a main feature really & a nice 7 ft section.

Is 2009 going to be a quiet one with no Red Bull Empire of Dirt on the horizon, or have you got your sights on some other competitions or big trips?

There's plenty planned, lots of filming trips. I am going to the T mobile contest in Germany in April. Then I have organized a DC team trip to Prague in May for a week. The Freestyle worlds are running again this year, so I will defog go out to that. I am looking forward to riding our home trails a fair bit, as we have had a digger the last few days & it’s looking sick!

Tell us a little about the forthcoming United film set to be released later this year?

United my bike sponsor are releasing there first full length team DVD, so this is my main goal over then next year & a half. I just want my video part to be the best it can be, Leo also rides for United so he is filming as well, it defo helps being able to go on trips together. I think the vid is going to make a really big impression on the scene our team is amazing at the moment.

Will your section focus completely on dirt, or will you be destroying some park/street too?

I hope my section will be well rounded, I guess there will be a lot of dirt clips, but I have some ideas that Red Bull are going to help make a reality. I am just keen to ride cool spots what ever they maybe, there is a fair bit of stuff about in Devon that I have wanted to do for a while, so this will give me the motivation to get it done.
