- Despite a first win for Fernando Alonso and Ferrari since the first grand prix of the year in Bahrain, and a first one-two, the victory at the German GP was mired in controversy after the Scuderia appeared to order leading driver Felipe Massa to let team-mate Alonso past into first place. Though the result stood, Ferrari were fined US$100,000 for breaking the FIA rules which state no team orders are allowed.
