Joe Goddard and Raf Rundell started their love affair in the DJ booths of London town. In the words of the Bears themselves: ‘Raf’s a badman DJ and Joe is a badman producer, together we form a badman DJ and producer combo.’

Both share a mutual admiration for acid synths, Detriot vocals and party tunes (the duo were often mistaken for each other in clubs, pubs and shopping centres around the country). Although they have a cuddly familiarity they each bring a set of unique skills to the studio. When it comes to laying down tracks Joe has a vast knowledge/fascination with Dave Smith synths and makes up the hours away from Raf working on solo projects as well as being one fifth of electro band Hot Chip. Raf on the other hand is a vocalist and vibes man with an ear for a tune - working as an A&R for 1965 records, running the Girls Music label with Toddla T and of course spinning records for the Greco Roman Soundsystem.
