Daron's Details
About Daron
California’s Daron Rahlves is the most decorated downhiller in the history of U.S. skiing. So it stands to reason that he’s hardly slowed down since retiring from the U.S. Ski Team in 2006 after 13 years.
Daron and his wife, Michelle, have charged into parenthood—with baby twins to dote on—and Daron has transitioned successfully from alpine racing into Ski Cross and big mountain freeskiing for films. Though he suffered through a rough rookie season in the burgeoning discipline of Ski Cross (he crashed in all four finals he made), last season he dialed it in to win his first X Games gold medal.
Now in addition to backcountry and big mountain ski film projects, Daron is redoubling his focus on Ski Cross with one thing in mind—the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games. During his alpine career, Daron collected 28 total World Cup podiums and 12 victories, three World Championship medals, and one glorious Hahnenkamm Downhill title, among other accolades. But an Olympic medal escaped him in his three previous Winter Games. Naturally, Daron is looking forward to the opportunity to add that elusive piece of Olympic hardware to his collection.
