Emma Warren has been writing about music for national and international publications since she was a founding contributor to Jockey Slut back in the mid '90s. She worked at THE FACE for four years before becoming an editor-at-large for NY magazine The Fader and freelancing for publications including: The Guardian where she guests on their monthly podcast, The Observer Music Monthly, The Independent, Q, TimeOut and Dazed. Emma was also a judge on The Mercury Prize for four years.
Emma's first compilation, Steppas Delight, came out on Soul Jazz in 2008 and followed a year later with volume II. She has hosted live interview sessions for The Tate, Soul Jazz Records and for the Red Bull Music Academy.
A teacher and mentor, Emma has taught journalism at Goldsmiths and the London College of Communication and is currently a senior mentor at youth run publication Live Magazine based in Brixton.
Emma comes to the Red Bull Studios every Friday to present her live two hour future sounds Pick N Mix radio show broadcast on NME Radio from 8pm till 10pm. Previous to this she hosted a series of monthly podcasts called Wondering Feet that were produced by Karen P's Folded Wing. Emma is also part of the RBMA family touring writing and broadcasting all over the world in the name of new music.
