When talking about his professional BMX career, Kevin Robinson often uses the word 'perseverance'.

Quite possibly the most committed rider in the pro ranks, Kevin knows what it means to set goals and work tirelessly to achieve them, no matter what setbacks he has to endure along the way.

When he decided to land the seemingly impossible double flair, he powered through three years’ worth of failed attempts and an army of skeptics until he pulled the history-making trick in 2006.

While his injury history includes 30 surgeries, he’s not afraid of getting hurt—only of not being able to ride at the high level he expects of himself.Kevin grew up East Providence, R.I., racing at the local BMX track until a TV commercial showing trick riding hooked him on the emerging sport of BMX freestyle.

For over 25 years since then, he has been committed to the sport, becoming a consistent, top-tier pro competitor. He is one of a select few athletes who has been invited to every X Games since its inception in 1995, currently boasting a total of nine medals, and he holds the BMX high-air world record of 27 feet, set at the Red Bull Kevin Robinson Experiment in June 2008.

With one of the best no-handed flairs in the business and a grip of big 540 variations in his bag, Kevin is a solid BMX Vert legend.In recent years, Kevin has turned his enormous efforts into charity involvement, working hard to improve the lives of young people. Years of working with the Junior Seau Foundation resulted in Kevin’s appointment to the foundation’s board of directors in March 2008.

“I go to inner-city schools and spread the message to kids that you can persevere and conquer anything you want if you just set your mind to it,” he says. A proud father of two, Kevin’s passion for motivating and inspiring kids is expanding, but he still shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to BMX and plans to re-focus his efforts on contests in 2009. “There are still tricks that I want to do, so I’ll keep on challenging myself,” he says. “I won’t be the guy riding off into a calm sunset; I’ll ride full-throttle, or I’m not going to ride at all.”
