About Toby
Curiously for a man with a thespian background (both his grandfathers were film and theatre stars), Toby Flood opted for a different kind of limelight in choosing to take big hits rather than act in them. “Having to wear hosiery and a pig mask in a play stopped all that (acting), it’s been a good choice” he said. Floody’s been part of the England rugby set-up since 2007 and with 25 caps to his name has recently been handed the number 10 jersey. He began his pro career at Newcastle Falcons but has since joined Leicester Tigers in a bid to step out of the shadow of Jonny Wilkinson and become the first choice number 10 for Leicester, playing at fly-half or inside centre. However, the urge to take to the stage is still there, especially as he used to play bass in a band with Wilkinson!
