On October 26 2007 the curtain fell on the tenth Red Bull Music Academy. But the echo of the innovative mash-up of musical talent from 30 countries will reverberate long after the end of the event.

Skills. Experience. Friendships. Ideas. New perspectives. And tons of sound files: These are only a few of the souvenirs that the 60 participants of the tenth Red Bull Music Academy took with them from Toronto – and which changed their lives forever. Memories of the jubilee event, which ended on October 26, not only linger in the ears of those who took part. Outsiders can also benefit from the productive and boisterous clash of musical talents from more than 30 countries.

Academy venue to become art gallery

For one thing, this holds true for the local artists’ community of Toronto, which will be receiving a new art gallery thanks to the Red Bull Music Academy. The Festival Center will be reconstructed to provide a space for young and upcoming Canadian artists to exhibit their works – 365 days a year.

Red Bull Music Academy Radio still broadcasting

But the Academy’s vibes will also linger on for those who live a little further away: Red Bull Music Academy Radio will continue to broadcast ethno and electronic music, funk and R’n’B from participants, lecturers, friends and inspirers of the Academy. Additionally, selected shows can also be downloaded.

Lecture sessions as podcasts

Those not only wanting to get down and shake a leg but also stimulate their own creativity can listen to the lecture sessions of the Academy on www.redbullmusicacademy.com – and get some first-hand tips on creativity and career from star remixer Radio Slave, Motown legends the Mizell Brothers or Recloose, who jumpstarted his career with the help of a demo tape hidden in Carl Craig’s sandwich.

Red Bull Music Academy 2008

Prospective participants interested in actively taking part rather than passively from a distance will have the opportunity in the coming year. Registration for the eleventh Red Bull Music Academy will most likely be possible from spring 2008.
